Luther Bible 1545
sake, which abideth in us, and shall be with us for ever.
Grace, mercy, peace, from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and in love, be with you.
I am very glad that I have found among thy children them that walk in the truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.
And now I beseech thee, woman (not as a new commandment I write unto thee, but which we have had from the beginning), that we love one another.
And this is love, that we walk after his commandment. This is the commandment, as ye have heard from the beginning, that ye should walk therein.
For many deceivers are come into the world, which confess not Jesus Christ, that he is come in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist.
Take heed that we lose not that which we have earned, but that we receive a full reward.
Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath no God: but he that abideth in the doctrine of Christ hath both the Father and the Son.
If any man come to you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not at home, neither salute him.
For he that saluteth him maketh himself partaker of his evil works.
I had much to write unto you, but I would not write with letters and ink, but I hope to come and speak unto you by word of mouth, that our joy may be full.
The children of your sister, the chosen one, greet you. Amen.

The third letter of John (3 John) ^
In Praise of Hospitality.
The elder: Gaius the beloved, whom I love in truth.
My beloved, I desire in all things that thou mayest prosper, and be in health, as thy soul prospereth.
And I am glad, because the brethren came and testified of thy truth, how that thou walkest in
the truth.
I have no greater joy than to hear my children walk in the truth.
My beloved, you do faithfully what you do to the brothers and guests, 6. Which have testified of thy love before the congregation: and thou hast done well to present them worthy in the sight of God.
For his name’s sake they went forth, and took nothing of the Gentiles.
Let us therefore receive such things, that we may be the helpers of the truth.
I have written unto the church: but Diotrephes, who would be exalted among them, receiveth us not.
Therefore when I come, I will remind him of his works which he doeth, and speaketh evil words against us, and is not satisfied with them. He himself receiveth not the brethren, and rejecteth them that would do it, and castteth them out of the church.
My beloved, do not follow after evil, but after good! He who does good is of God; he who does evil does not see God.
Demetrius hath testimony of every man, and of the truth itself: and we also testify, and ye know that our testimony is true.
I had much to write; but I didn’t want to write to you in pen and ink.
But I hope to see you soon, so let us talk orally. Peace be with you! Friends greet you. Greet the friends by name.

The Letter of Judas (Jude) ^
Exhortation to persevere in pure doctrine and life against deceivers.
Judas, a servant of JESUS Christ, but a brother to James: to them that are called, who are sanctified in GOD the Father, and kept in JESUS Christ.
may God grant you much mercy and peace and love!
Beloved, having intended to write unto you concerning the salvation of us all, I thought it necessary to exhort you with scriptures, that ye should contend for the faith which was once given unto the saints.
For there are some men crept in beside them, of whom it is written aforetime, to such a punishment; who are ungodly, and take the grace of our God in vain, and deny God, and our Lord JESUS CHRIST, the only Ruler.
But I will remind you, that ye know this at once, that the LORD, when he delivered the people out of Egypt, at the second time destroyed they which believed not.
Angels also, which kept not their principality, but left their habitation, he hath kept unto the judgment of the great day with everlasting bands of darkness.
As Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities round about them, which went out after the same manner as these, and went after another flesh, are set for an ensample, and suffer everlasting punishment.
Of the same kind are these dreamers, who defile the flesh, but despise the rulers, and blaspheme the majesties.
But the archangel, when he had quarreled with the devil, and talked with him concerning the body of Moses, could not pronounce the sentence of blasphemy, but said, The LORD
chastise thee.
But these blaspheme, because they know not any thing: but what they know naturally, therein they corrupt, as the unreasoning beasts.
Woe unto them! for they go in the way of Cain, and fall into the error of Balaam for the sake of pleasure, and perish in the rebellion of Korah.
These unfaithful ones pluck of your alms without timidity, feeding themselves; they are clouds without water, driven about by the wind, bare, barren trees, twice dead and rooted up, 13. wild waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame, erroneous stars, to whom is kept the darkness of darkness for ever.
And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, foretold of these, saying, Behold, the LORD
cometh with many thousands of saints,
To execute judgment upon all, and to punish all their ungodly for all the works of their ungodly doings, that they have been ungodly, and for all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
These murmur and complain continually, they that walk after their lusts; and their mouth speaketh proud words, and esteemeth the person for gain.
But ye, beloved, remember the words which were spoken aforetime by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Saying unto you, That in the latter days there shall be scoffers, walking after their own lusts of ungodliness.
These are they that make the multitude, carnal, which have no spirit.
But ye, beloved, building up yourselves upon your most holy faith through the Holy Ghost, pray
And keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto life eternal.
And keep this difference, that ye may have mercy on some,
But save some with fear, and bring them out of the fire; and hate the stained garment of the flesh.
But to him that is able to keep you without blemish, and to set you before the face of his glory blameless with joy;
To God, who alone is wise, our Savior, be glory and majesty and power and might, now and forever. Amen.

The Revelation of John ^
Chapter 1
Mystery of the seven candlesticks and stars.
This is the revelation of JESUS Christ, which GOD gave him to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and hath interpreted it, and sent it by his angel unto his servant John,
Who hath testified of the word of GOD, and of the testimony of JESUS CHRIST, which he hath seen.
Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
John unto the seven churches which are in Asia, Grace be unto you, and peace, from him that is, and that was, and that is to come, and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne, 5. And of JESUS Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the firstborn from the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth, who loved us, and washed us from sins in his blood.
And hath made us kings and priests before God and his Father: unto him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they that pricked him; and all kindreds of the earth shall wail. Yea, Amen.
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the LORD that is, and that
was, and that is to come, the Almighty.
I John, who also am your brother and fellow-sufferer in the tribulation, and in the kingdom, and in the patience of JEsu Christ, was in the isle which is called Patmos, for the word of GOD, and for the testimony of JEsu Christ.
I was in the spirit in the day of the LORD, and heard behind me a great voice as of a trumpet, 11. Which said: I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last: and what thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the churches of Asia, to Ephesus, and to Smyrna, and to Pergamos, and to Thyatira, and to Sardis, and to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.
And I turned to see the voice that talked with me. And when I turned, I saw seven candlesticks of gold.
And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the son of man, clothed in a vesture, and girded about the breast with a golden girdle.
And his head and his hair were white as white wool, as the snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire.
And his feet were as brass burning in a furnace, and his voice as the sound of great
sake, which abideth in us, and shall be with us for ever. Grace, mercy, peace, from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father,
