And Elisha said unto him, Take the bow and the arrows. And when he had taken the bow and the arrows,
And he said unto the king of Israel, Draw the bow with thine hand. And he drew with his hand. And Elisha put his hand upon the king’s hand.
And said, Open the window toward the east. And he opened it. And Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, An arrow of salvation from the LORD, an arrow of salvation against the Syrians: and thou shalt smite the Syrians at Aphek, until they be consumed.
And he said, Take the arrows. And when he had taken them, he said unto the king of Israel, Smite the earth. And he smote thrice, and stood still.
And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, If thou hadst smitten five or six times, thou wouldest have smitten the Syrians until they were consumed: but now thou shalt smite them thrice.
And it came to pass, when Blisha was dead, and they had buried him, that the men of war of Moab fell into the land of that year.
And it came to pass, that they buried a man: and when they saw the men of war, they cast the man into Elisha’s sepulchre. And when he was come, and touched the bones of Elisha, he quickened, and stood upon his feet.
So Hazael king of Syria constrained Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.
But the LORD had mercy upon them, and had compassion on them, and turned unto them for his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and would not destroy them, neither cast them out of his sight, even unto this hour.
And Hazael king of Syria died, and Benhadad his son reigned in his stead.
And Jehoash returned, and took the cities out of the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael,
which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father with strife. Three times Joash smote him, and brought again the cities of Israel.

Chapter 14
Amaziah and Azariah, kings in Judah. Jeroboam the second in Israel.
In the second year of Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz king of Israel, Ahaziah the son of Jehoash king of Judah reigned.
He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Joadan of Jerusalem.
And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD: yet not as David his father did, but as Joash his father did he also.
For the high places were not removed, but the people sacrificed and burned incense in the high places.
And when he had become mighty in the kingdom, he smote his servants that smote his father the king.
But the children of the murderers he slew not. He slew not them: as it is written in the book of the law of Moses, where the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin.
And he smote ten thousand of the Edomites in the valley of the salt, and took the city of Selah with battle; and called it Jaktheel unto this day.
And Amaziah sent messengers unto Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz the son of Jehu king of Israel, saying, Come, and let us see one another.
But Joash king of Israel sent unto Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The briar that is in Lebanon sent unto the cedar tree of Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife. And the wild beasts of the field of Lebanon ran upon the briar, and trod it down.
Thou hast smitten the Edomites; thine heart is lifted up. Have glory, and dwell in the land: why wilt thou strive for evil, that thou shouldest fall, and Judah with thee?
But Amaziah hearkened not. Then Joash king of Israel went up; and they looked together, he and Amaziah king of Judah, at Bethshemesh, which is in Judah.
And Judah was smitten before Israel, and every man fled into his tent.
And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Bethshemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the walls of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate four hundred cubits.
And he took all the gold, and the silver, and the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king’s house, and the children for a pledge, and returned to Samaria.
And the rest of the acts of Jehoash, which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
And Joash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria among the kings of Israel. And Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.
And Amaziah the son of Jehoash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoahaz the son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.
And the rest of the acts of Amaziah are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah.
And they made a covenant against him at Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish. And they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.
And they brought him on horses, and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.
And all the people of Judah took Azariah in his sixteenth year, and made him king instead of Amaziah his father.
And he built Elath, and brought it again to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.
In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah, Jeroboam the son of Joash
reigned over Israel in Samaria forty and one years.
And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.
And he brought again the border of Israel from Hemath even unto the sea that is in the plain, according to the word of the LORD God of Israel, which he spake by his servant Jonah the son of Amithai the prophet, which was of Gath Hepher.
For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that they also which were shut up and forsaken were consumed, and that there was no helper in Israel.
And the LORD spake not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, but helped them by Jeroboam the son of Joash.
And the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, and how he fought, and how he restored Damascus and Hemath unto Judah in Israel, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
And Jeroboam passed away with his fathers, with the kings of Israel. And Zechariah his son reigned in his stead.

Chapter 15
Government of several kings in Judah and Israel.
In the twenty and seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel was king Azariah the son of Amaziah king of Judah.
And he was sixteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and two years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jechaliah of Jerusalem.
And did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, even as Amaziah his father did, 4. Notwithstanding they removed not the high places: for the people sacrificed and burned incense yet in the high places.
And the LORD afflicted the king, and he was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a house but one. And Jotham the king’s son ruled the house, and judged the people of the land.
And the rest of the acts of Azariah, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah.
And Azariah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David.
And Jotham his son reigned in his stead.
In the thirty and eighth year of Azariah king of Judah was king Zechariah the son of Jeroboam over Israel in Samaria six months.
And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as his fathers had done. He desisted not from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to sin.
And Shallum the son of Jabesh made a league against him, and smote him before the people, and slew him; and he reigned in his stead.
And the rest of the acts of Zechariah, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
And this is it that the LORD Jehu spake, saying, Thy children shall sit in the fourth generation upon the throne of Israel: and it was so.
And Shallum the son of Jabe reigned in the thirty and ninth year of Azariah king of Judah, and reigned one month in Samaria.
For Menahem the son of Gadi went up from Tirzah, and came to Samaria, and smote Shallum the son of Jabe in Samaria, and slew him, and reigned in his stead.
And the rest of the acts of Shallum, and the covenant which he made, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
Then Menahem smote Tiphsah, and all that were therein, and their border of Tirzah, because they would not let him in; and smote all their pregnant women, and rent them.
In the thirty and ninth year of Azariah king of Judah was king Menahem the son
