  • In the morning there were six Levites, and in the north of the day four, and in the south of the day four: and in Esupim two and two;
  • at Parbar but towards evening four at the road, and two at Parbar.
  • These are the ordinances of the porters among the children of the Korhites, and among the children of Merari.
  • And of the Levites, Ahijah was over the treasures of the house of God, and over the treasures that were sanctified.
  • Of the children of Laedan, the children of the Gershonites. Of Laedan were chief of the fathers, even the Jehielites.
  • The children of the Jehielites were: Setham and his brother Joel over the treasures of the house of the LORD.
  • Among the Amramites, Jezeharites, Hebronites, and Usielites
  • And Zebuel the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, was ruler over the treasures.
  • And Eliezer his brother had a son Rehabiah, whose son was Jeshaiah, whose son was Joram, whose son was Zichri, whose son was Zelomith.
  • The same Selomith and his brethren were over all the treasures of the sanctified, which king David sanctified, and the chief fathers among the captains over thousands, and over hundreds, and the captains of the host.
  • From strife and spoil they had sanctified it, to repair the house of the LORD.
  • And all that Samuel the seer, and Saul the son of Kish, and Abner the son of Ner, and Joab the son of Zeruiah, had sanctified, all that was sanctified was under the hand of Selomith and his brethren.
  • And of the Jezeharites, Chenaniah and his sons were without to work over Israel, officers and judges.
  • And among the Hebronites was Hashabiah, and his brethren, diligent men, a thousand and seven hundred, over the ministry of Israel on this side Jordan, toward the even, for all the business of the LORD, and to minister unto the king.
  • Item, among the Hebronites was Jena, the chiefest of the Hebronites of his family among the fathers. And there were sought among them, and found in the fortieth year of the kingdom of David diligent men at Jaesher in Gilead,
  • And their brethren, diligent men, two thousand and seven hundred chief fathers. And David set them over the Reubenites, and over the Gadites, and over the half tribe of Manasseh, for all the dealings of GOD and of the king.

    Chapter 28 (otherwise 27th)
    David’s field chiefs, princes, officers, and court councillors.
  • And the children of Israel according to their number were heads of the fathers, and more than a thousand, and more than an hundred, and officers that waited upon the king, according to their order, from time to time, every month one, throughout all the months of the year. Each order had twenty-four thousand.
  • Over the first order of the first month was Jashabeam the son of Abdiel: and in his order were twenty and four thousand.
  • And of the sons of Perez was chief over all the captains of the armies in the first month.
  • Over the order of the second month was Dodai the Ahohite, and Mikloth was ruler over his order: and in his order were twenty and four thousand.
  • The third captain of the host of the third month, the chief captain, was Benaiah the son of Jehoiada the priest: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
  • This is Benaiah the hero among thirty and above thirty: and his order was under Ammizabad his son.
  • The fourth in the fourth month was Asahel Joab’s brother, and after him Zabadiah his son: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
  • The fifth in the fifth month was Shamhuth the Jezrahite: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
  • The sixth in the sixth month was Ira the son of Ike the Thekite: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
  • The seventh in the seventh month was Helez the Pelonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
  • The eighth in the eighth month was Sibechai the Hushathite, of the Sarehites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
  • The ninth in the ninth month was Abiezer the Anthothite, of the sons of Jemini: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
  • The tenth in the tenth month was Maherai the Netophathite, of the Zerahites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
  • The eleventh in the eleventh month was Benaiah the Pirgathonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
  • The twelfth in the twelfth month was Heldai the Netophathite, of Athniel: and in his order were twenty and four thousand.
  • And over the tribes of Israel were these: Among the Reubenites was Eliezer the son of Zichri.
    And of the Simeonites, Shephatiah the son of Maechah.
  • Among the Levites was Hashabiah the son of Kemuel. Among the Aaronites was Zadok.
  • And under Judah was Elihu of the brethren of David. And under Issachar was Amri the son of Michael.
  • Under Zebulun was Ishmaiah the son of Obadiah. Under Naphtali was Jerimoth the son of Azriel.
  • And of the children of Ephraim was Hosea the son of Azaziah. And of the half tribe of Manasseh was Joel the son of Pedaiah.
  • And of the half tribe of Manasseh in Gilead was Iddo the son of Zechariah. Among Benjamin was Jaesiel the son of Abner.
  • Under Dan was Azareel the son of Jeroham. These are the princes of the tribes of Israel.
  • But David took not the number of them that were twenty years old and under: for the LORD
    had spoken to multiply Israel as the stars of heaven.
  • And Joab the son of Zeruiah began to number, and finished it not: for there was wrath upon Israel because of it: therefore the number was not written in the book of the chronicles of king David.
  • Over the king’s treasure was Azmaveth the son of Adiel: and over the treasures of the land in the cities, in the villages, and in the castles, was Jonathan the son of Uzziah.
  • Over the husbandmen to build the land was Esri the son of Chelub.
  • And over the vineyards was Shimei the Ramathite. Over the cellars and treasures of wine was Zabdi the Ziphimite.
  • Over the oliveyards and the mulberry trees in the meadows was Baalhanan the Gaderite.
    Over the oil treasure was Joash.
  • And over the herds of Saron was Sitrai the Saronite. But over the oxen in Gründen was Shaphat the son of Adlai.
  • Over the camels was Obil the Ishmaelite. Over the asses was Jehediah the Meronothite.
  • And over the sheep was Jasis the Hagarite. These were all rulers over the goods of king David.
  • And Jonathan David’s cousin was the counselor, and the steward, and the chancellor. And Jehiel the son of Hachmoni was with the king’s children.
  • Ahithophel also was the king’s counselor. Husai the Arachite was the king’s friend.
  • After Ahithophel was Jehoiada the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar. And Joab was captain of the king’s host.

    Chapter 29 (otherwise 28th)
    David’s last kingdom day, hired for the building of the temple.
  • And David gathered together unto Jerusalem all the princes of Israel, even the princes of the tribes, and the princes of the orders that waited upon the king, the princes over thousands and over hundreds, the princes over the king’s goods and the king’s cattle, and his sons, with the stewards, and the men of war, and all the valiant men.
  • And David the king stood upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren and my people. I purposed to build an house, where the ark of the covenant of the LORD should rest, and a footstool for the feet of our God; and I had sent to build it.
  • But God said unto me, Thou shalt not build an house unto my name: for thou art a man of war, and hast shed blood.
  • Now the LORD God of Israel hath chosen me out of all my father’s house to be king over Israel for ever. For he hath chosen Judah to be a principality, and in the house of Judah my father’s house, and among my father’s children, he was pleased with me, to make me king over all Israel.
  • And of all my sons (for the LORD hath given me many sons) he hath chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel.
  • And he said unto me: Solomon thy son shall build my house and my court: for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father;
  • And I will establish his kingdom for ever, when he shall endure to do according to my commandments and my statutes, as it is this day.
  • Now therefore before all Israel the congregation of the LORD, and in the ears of our God, keep and seek all the commandments of the LORD your God, that ye may possess the good land, and inherit it for your children after you for ever.
  • And thou, my son Solomon, know the God of thy father, and serve him with all thine heart and with all thy soul. For the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all thoughts. If thou seek him, thou shalt find him: but if thou forsake him, he will forsake thee for ever.
  • Take heed therefore, for the LORD hath chosen thee to build the house of the sanctuary: be thou confident, and make it.
  • And David gave Solomon his son a pattern of the hall, and of his house, and of the chambers, and of the halls, and of the chambers within, and of the house of the mercy seat; 12. For the pattern of all that was with him in his mind, even of the court of the house of the LORD,
