If we had forgotten the name of our God, and lifted up our hands unto a strange God, 22. That God would find: for now he knoweth the reason of our hearts.

For we are slain daily for thy sake, and are esteemed as sheep for the slaughter.

Awaken, O Lord, why are you asleep? Awake, and do not cast us off so completely!

Why hidest thou thy face, forgetting our affliction and our distress?

Who trust in their goods, and brave in their great riches.

For a brother cannot redeem anyone, nor can God reconcile anyone; 9. For it cost too much to redeem her soul, that he should suffer it to stand for ever, 10. Though he live as long as he liveth, and see not the pit.

For it shall be seen that such wise men die, as well as fools and fools perish, and leave their goods to others.

This is their heart, that their houses may endure for ever, and their dwellings be established for ever, and have great honour upon the earth.

Nevertheless they cannot abide in such dignity, but must go away like cattle.

This their doings are foolishness: neither do their seed praise it with their mouth.

They are in hell as sheep, death gnaweth them: but the righteous shall soon have dominion over them, and their defiance shall pass away, and they shall abide in hell.

But God shall deliver my soul out of the power of hell: for he hath accepted me. Sela.

Let it not deceive thee, whether a man be rich, whether the glory of his house be great.

For he shall take nothing with him in his death, and his glory shall not follow him.

But he comforteth himself of this good life, and glorifieth it, when any man seeketh good days.

So they go after their fathers, and never see the light.

In short, if a man be in dignity, and have not understanding, he fleeth away as cattle.
