They tempted GOD again and again and mastered the Holy One in Israel.

And when God heard it, he was inflamed, and rejected Israel greatly, 60. That he made his tabernacle to go to Shiloh, the tabernacle where he dwelt among men; 61. And gave their power into prison, and their glory into the hand of the enemy; 62. And delivered up his people to the sword, and burned upon his inheritance.

Prayer against the enemies of truth and their tyranny.

A psalm of Assaph. O LORD, the heathen have fallen into thine inheritance, and have polluted thy holy temple, and made Jerusalem a heap of stones.

They have given the carcases of thy servants for meat unto the fowls of the air, and the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.

They shed blood round about Jerusalem like water; and there was none to bury it.

We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a mockery and a scorn to them that are round about us.

O Lord, how long wilt thou be angry, and let thy zeal burn like fire?

Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that know thee not, and upon the kingdoms that call not upon thy name.

For they have devoured Jacob, and laid waste his houses.

Remember not our former iniquity: have mercy upon us quickly; for we are become almost thin.

help us, O GOD, our helper, for the glory of your name; save us and forgive us our sin for the sake of your name!

Why hast thou made the heathen say, Where is their God? Let the vengeance of the blood of thy servants, which is shed, be made known among the heathen before our eyes.

Let the groaning of the captives come before thee: according to thy great arm keep the

O LORD God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry with the prayer of thy people?

Thou feedest them with the bread of tears, and waterest them with a great measure of tears.

Thou hast set us at variance with our neighbours, and our enemies have mocked us.

O God of hosts, comfort us. Let your face shine, and we shall be healed.

Thou hast brought up a vine out of Egypt, and hast cast out the heathen, and planted the same.

Thou hast made the way before him, and hast rooted him, and he hath filled the land.

mountains are covered with his shadow, and with his branches the cedars of GOD.
