not yet come.

Then said JEsus unto them again: I go away, and ye shall seek me, and die in your sins: whither I go ye cannot come.
22: Then said the Jews, Will he then kill himself, saying, Whither I go, ye cannot come?

And he said unto them: Ye are from beneath, I am from above; ye are of this world, I am not of this world.

Thus I said unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

And they said unto him, Who art thou? And JEsus said unto them: First, he that speaketh unto you.

I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true, and those things which I have heard of him I speak before the world.

But they heard not that he told them of the father.

Then said JEsus unto them: When ye shall exalt the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, so speak I.

And he that sent me is with me. The Father leaves me not alone: for I do always those things that please him.

When he spake these things, many believed on him.

Then said JESUS unto the Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my sayings, ye are my disciples indeed.

And ye shall know the truth; and the truth shall make you free.

And they said unto him, We are Abraham’s seed, and have never been any man’s servants: how sayest thou then? Ye shall go free?

JEsus answered them, and said: Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that committeth sin is the
servant of sin.

But the servant abideth not in the house for ever: the son abideth for ever.

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

I know that ye are Abraham’s seed, but ye seek to kill me: for my words are not found among you.

I speak that which I have seen of my Father: so do ye that which ye have seen of your Father.

And they answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Saith JEsus unto them: If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do Abraham’s works.

But now ye seek to kill me, such a man as I have told you the truth, which I have heard of GOD; which Abraham did not do.

Ye do the works of your father. Then said they unto him, We are not born out of wedlock; we have one Father, GOD.

And JEsus said unto them: If GOD were your Father, ye would love me: for I am come forth, and am come from GOD: for I am not come of myself, but he hath sent me.

Why then know ye not my language? for ye cannot hear my word.

Ye are of the father the devil, and after your father’s pleasure will ye do. The same is a murderer from the beginning, and is not established in the truth; for the truth is not in him.
When he speaketh lies, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of them.

But I, because I speak the truth, believe ye me not.

Which of you can accuse me of sin? But if I tell you the truth, why do you not believe me?

He who is of God hears the word of God. Therefore you do not hear, for you are not of God.

And the Jews answered and said unto him, Say we not rightly that thou art a Samaritan, and hast the devil.

JEsus answered: I have no devil, but I honour my Father, and ye dishonour me.

I seek not mine own glory: but there is one that seeketh it, and judgeth it.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, If any man keep my word, he shall not see death for ever.

And the Jews said unto him, Now we know that thou hast the devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If any man keep my word, he shall not taste death for ever.

Art thou more than our father Abraham, which died? And the prophets are dead. What do you make of yourself?

Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing. But it is my Father that honoureth me, of whom ye say that he is your God,

and know him not. But I know him. And if I should say, I know him not, I should be a liar, as ye are. But I know him, and keep his word.

Abraham your father was glad that he should see my day: and he saw it, and rejoiced.

And the Jews said unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast seen Abraham?

And Jesus said unto them: Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

Then they heaped up stones to cast at him. But JEsus hid himself, and went out unto the temple, passing through the midst of them].

Chapter 9
He that is born blind is made sane by Christ.

And JEsus passed by, and saw one that was born blind.

And his disciples asked him, saying: Master, who sinned, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?

Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God might be made manifest in him.

I must work the works of him that sent me while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

And when he had said these things, he spit upon the ground, and made a dung of the spittle, and put the dung upon the eyes of the blind.

And said unto him, Go unto the pool of Siloam, and wash. So he went and washed, and came
to see.

The neighbours, and they that had seen him before, that he was a beggar, said: Is not this he that sat begging?

Some said: It is he: but some said, He is like him. But he himself said: It is I.

And they said unto him, How are thine eyes opened?

And he answered and said, The man whose name is JEsus made a dung, and put it upon mine eyes, and said, Go unto the pool of Siloam, and wash. And I went and washed, and received my sight.

And they said unto him, Where is he? He said: I know not.

And they brought him unto the Pharisees, who was blind.

(Now it was the sabbath day, when JEsus made the dung, and opened his eyes.) 15. Then asked they him again, even the Pharisees, how he had received his sight. And he said unto them: He put dung on my eyes, and I washed, and now I see.

Then said some of the Pharisees, Man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath. But the others said: How can a sinful man do such signs? And there was dissension among them.

And they said again unto the blind man: What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? And he said, He is a prophet. –

The Jews believed not of him that he had been blind, and had received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight,

And they asked, saying: Is this your son, whom ye say was born blind? How then is he that hath sight?

And his parents answered them, and said: We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind.

Now how he hath sight, we know not; neither know we who hath opened his eyes. He is old enough, ask him; let him speak for himself.

These things said his parents: for they were afraid of the Jews. For the Jews were already united, if any man confessed him to be a Christian, that he should be put under ban.

Therefore said his parents, He is old enough; ask him.

Then called they the second time the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner.

And he answered and said: Is he a sinner, I know not: one thing I know, that I was blind, and now I see.

And they said unto him again, What did he unto thee? How did he open thine eyes?

And he answered them: I have told you now; have ye not heard? Why do you want to hear it again? will ye also become his disciples?

And they cursed him, and said: Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses’ disciples.

We know that God spake unto Moses: but this we know not from whence he is.

And the man answered and said unto them: This is a strange thing, that ye know not whence he is: and he hath opened mine eyes.

Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man fear God, and do his will, he heareth him.

From the beginning of the world it hath not been heard that any man hath opened the eyes of a born blind man.

If this one were not from GOD, he could do nothing.

And they answered and said unto him, Thou art all born in sins, and teachest us? And cast him out.

And it came to pass before JEsum, that they had cast him out. And when he found him, he said unto him, Believest thou on the Son of God?

And he answered and said, Lord, which is he, that I may believe on him?

And JEsus said unto him, Thou hast seen him, and he that speaketh with thee is he.

And he said, Lord, I believe; and worshipped
