unto you, and will cause you to grow and multiply, and will keep my covenant with you.

And ye shall eat of the fire, and when the new cometh, ye shall put away the fire.

I will make my dwelling among you, and my soul shall not reject you.

And I will walk among you, and be your God; and ye shall be my people.

For I am the LORD your God, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen: and I have broken your yoke, and made you to walk upright.

But if ye will not obey me, and do all these commandments,

And ye shall despise my statutes, and your souls shall reject my judgments, and ye shall not do all my commandments, and ye shall forsake my covenant,

And I will do this also unto you: I will afflict you with terror, and with pestilence, and with fever; and your faces shall fall, and your bodies faint: ye shall sow your seed in vain, and your enemies shall devour it.

And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be smitten before your enemies; and they that hate you shall have dominion over you; and ye shall flee, when no man chaseth you.

But if ye obey me not yet above these things, I will punish you seven times more for your sin,

And I will break your pride and stiffneckedness; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass.

And your toil and your labour shall be lost, that your land yield not her increase, and the trees of the land yield not their fruit.

And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me, then will I make it seven times more to smite you for your sin.

And I will send wild beasts among you, and they shall devour your children, and rend your cattle, and make you few: and your streets shall be desolate.

But will ye not yet be chastened with these things, and walk contrary unto me?

I will also walk contrary unto you, and will smite you seven times more for your sin.

And I will bring upon you a sword of vengeance, to avenge my covenant. And though ye gather yourselves into your cities, yet will I send pestilence among you, and will deliver you into the hands of your enemies.

Then will I destroy your store of bread, and ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and your bread shall be weighed by weight; and when ye eat, ye shall not be satisfied.

But if by this ye will not yet obey me, and walk contrary unto me, 28. Then will I also walk contrary unto you in wrath, and will punish you seven times more for your sin,

That ye should eat the flesh of your sons and of your daughters.

And I will destroy your high places, and cut off your images; and I will cast your dead bodies upon your idols: and my soul shall be disgusted with you.

And I will make your cities desolate, and break down the churches of your sanctuary; and I will not smell your sweet savour.

So will I make the land desolate, and your enemies that dwell therein shall be astonished at it.

And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out the sword after you, and your land shall be desolate, and your cities desolate.

Then shall the land let him have his feast, while it lieth waste, and ye are in the land of the enemy: yea, then shall the land feast, and let him have his feast, 35. As long as it lay desolate, because it could not celebrate, when ye should celebrate it, when ye dwelt therein.

And to them that remain of you will I make a cowardly heart in the land of their enemies, and they shall chase a sounding leaf; and they shall flee from it as from a sword, and fall when no man chaseth them.

And ye shall fall one upon another as before the sword, and yet none shall chase them: and ye shall not rise up against your enemies.

And ye shall perish among the heathen, and the land of your enemies shall devour you.

But they that remain of you shall languish in their iniquity in the land of the enemy; they shall also languish in the iniquity of their fathers.

Then shall they confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, because they have sinned against me, and walked contrary unto me.

Therefore will I also walk contrary unto them, and will drive them out into the land of their enemies. Then their uncircumcised hearts will be humbled, and they will accept the punishment of their iniquity.

And I will remember my covenant with Jacob, and my covenant with Isaac, and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land,

Which is forsaken of them, and hath suffered his feast to fall upon him, because it lieth desolate with them, and they have suffered them the punishment of their iniquity, because they have despised my judgments, and their souls have been disgusted with my statutes.

Though they be already in the land of the enemy, yet have I not rejected them, neither am I disgusted with them, that they should cease, and that my covenant with them should be no more: for I am the LORD their God.

And I will remember my first covenant against them, when I brought them up out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I should be their God, I the LORD.

These are the statutes, and judgments, and laws, which the LORD set between him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.

Chapter 27
Of vows and tithes.

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying:

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them: If any man vow a special vow unto the LORD, that he will value his body,

And this shall be the estimation: A man’s image, twenty years old unto the sixtieth year, shalt thou value at fifty shekels of silver after the shekel of the sanctuary; 4. a female image at thirty sekels.

From five years old even unto twenty years old shalt thou value him twenty shekels, if it be a man’s image; but if it be a woman’s image, ten shekels.

From one month even unto five years old shalt thou value him at five shekels of silver, if he be a man; and if he be a woman, at three shekels of silver.

And if he be threescore years old and above, then thou shalt value him fifteen shekels, if he be a man; and if he be a woman, ten shekels.

But if he be too poor for such an estimation, then he shall present himself before the priest, and the priest shall estimate him: and he shall estimate him according as his hand can purchase him that hath vowed.

But if it be cattle, which may be offered unto the LORD: All that is given unto the LORD is holy.

They shall not change, neither shall they change the good for the bad, or the bad for the good.
But if a man change one beast for another, they shall both be holy unto the LORD.

And if the beast be unclean, that it be not offered unto the LORD, then it shall be presented before the priest.

And the priest shall estimate it, whether it be good or bad: and it shall be in the priest’s estimation.

But if any man will redeem it, he shall give the fifth over the valuation.

If a man sanctify his house to be holy unto the LORD, the priest shall esteem it good or bad: and after that the priest esteemeth it, it shall remain.

And if he that sanctified it will redeem it, then he shall add unto it the fifth part of the money of which it is estimated, and it shall be so.

If any man sanctify a piece of ground of his inheritance unto the LORD, it shall be counted according to his bearing. If he bring in a homor of barley, he shall be counted for fifty shekels of silver.

And if he sanctify his field from the year of jubile, it shall be counted according to his dignity.

And if he sanctify him after the year of jubile, then the priest shall reckon him according to the years that remain in the year of jubile, and after that he shall reckon him less; 19. And if he that sanctified it will redeem the field, he shall give the fifth part of the money of the price thereof, and it shall be his.

But if he will not redeem it, but sell it to another, he shall redeem it no more, 21. But the same field, when it goeth forth in the year of jubile, shall be holy unto the LORD, as an exiled field; and shall be the priest’s inheritance.

And if a man sanctify unto the LORD a field which he hath bought, and it be not his inheritance,

Then the priest shall reckon him according to his worth until the year of jubilee: and he shall give such a reckoning in that day, that he may be holy unto the LORD.

But in the year of jubile it shall return unto him of whom he bought it, that it may be his inheritance in the land.

All dignity shall be according to the shekel of the sanctuary. And one shekel is twenty gerahs.

The firstborn of cattle, which is the LORD’s, shall no man sanctify unto the LORD, whether it be an ox or a sheep: for
