  • Heshbon, and all the cities thereof that are in the plain; Dibon, and Bamothbaal, and Bethbaal-meon,
  • Jahza, Kedemoth, Mephaath,
  • kiriathaim, sibma, zereth sahar on the mountain in the valley, 20. beth-peor, the streams at pisgah and beth-jesimoth
  • And all the cities of the plain, and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, which sat in Heshbon, whom Moses smote, and the princes of Midian, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, the mighty men of king Sihon, that dwelt in the land.
  • And Balaam the son of Beor the diviner did the children of Israel slay with the sword, with them that were slain.
  • And the border of the children of Reuben was Jordan This is the inheritance of the children of Reuben among their families, cities, and villages.
  • To the tribe of the children of Gad among their families Moses gave, 25. And their coast was Jaesher, and all the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the children of Ammon, unto Aroer, which is before Rabbah;
  • And from Heshbon unto Ramath-mizpeh and Betonim, and from Mahanaim unto the border of Debir;
  • And in the valley of Bethharam, and Bethnimrah, and Sukhoth, and Zaphon, which was left of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, the border of Jordan, unto the end of the sea of Cinnereth, on this side Jordan eastward.
  • This is the inheritance of the children of Gad in their families, in their cities, and in their villages.
  • To the half tribe of the children of Manasseh according to their families Moses gave, 30. And their border was from Mahanaim, all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all the villages of Jair which are in Bashan, even threescore cities.
  • And half Gilead, Ashtaroth, Edrei, the cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, gave he to the children. Machir the son of Manasseh, that is, to the half of the children of Machir, according to their families.
  • This is it that Moses distributed in the plains of Moab, on the other side Jordan, before Jericho, toward the going up.
  • But unto the tribe of Levi Moses gave no inheritance: for the LORD God of Israel is their inheritance, as he spake unto them.

    Chapter 14
    Of Caleb’s inheritance.
  • Now this is the possession of the children of Israel in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the chief fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed among them.
  • And they divided it by lot among them, as the LORD commanded by Moses, to give unto the ten tribes and an half.
  • For unto the two and to the half tribe Moses had given an inheritance on the other side Jordan.
    But unto the Levites he gave no inheritance among them.
  • For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim: therefore they gave the Levites no part in the land, but cities to dwell in, and suburbs for their cattle and for their substance.
  • As the LORD commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel, and divided the land.
  • And the children of Judah came unto Joshua at Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said unto him, Thou knowest what the LORD said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Kadeshbarnea.
  • I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me out from Kadeshbarnea to search the land, and I told him again according to my conscience.
  • But my brethren which went up with me made the heart of the people faint: but I followed the LORD my God faithfully.
  • And Moses sware the same day, saying, The land whereon thou hast trodden with thy foot shall be thine and thy children’s inheritance for ever: because thou hast faithfully followed the LORD my God.
  • And now, behold, the LORD hath given me life, as he spake. It is now forty and five years since the LORD spake these things unto Moses, which Israel walked in the wilderness. And now, behold, I am this day eighty and five years old.
  • And I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me forth: as my strength was then, so is it now, to fight and to go out and to come in.
  • Give me therefore this mountain, which the LORD spake of that day: for thou heardest it that day. For the Enakims dwell above, and are great and strong cities: if the LORD would be
    with me to drive them out, as the LORD hath said.
  • And Joshua blessed him, and gave Hebron unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh for an inheritance.
  • Therefore Hebron was the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day, because he followed the LORD God of Israel faithfully.
  • And the name of Hebron in old time was Kiriath-arba, who was a great man among the Enakims. And the land ceased from war.

    Chapter 15
    Border and cities of the tribe of Judah.
  • The lot of the tribe of the children of Judah among their families was the border of Edom in the wilderness of Zin, which is on the south side, in the corner of the south country, 2. Their south borders were from the corner of the salt sea, that is, from the tongue that goeth toward the south,
  • And come out from thence up to Akrabbim, and pass through Zin; and go up from the south toward Kadeshbarnea; and pass through Hezron, and go up to Adar, and go about Karkaa; 4. And pass through Azmon, and come out unto the river of Egypt, that the end of the border may be the sea. And this shall be your border toward the south.
  • And the morning border is from the salt sea unto the end of Jordan. And the north border is from the tongue of the sea, which is at the place of Jordan,
  • And go up to Beth-hagla, and go on the north side to Beth-arabah, and come up to the stone of Bohen the son of Reuben;
  • And go up to Debir, from the valley of Achor, and from the midnight place that looketh toward Gilgal, which is over against Adumim, which lieth by the water from the south. And afterward she went unto the water of Enzhemesh, and came out unto the well of Rogel.
  • And she went up to the valley of the son of Hinnom on the side of the Jebusite, which dwelleth on the south side, which is Jerusalem: and she came up to the top of the mountain that lieth before the valley of Hinnom on the west side, which cometh to the corner of the valley of Raphaim on the north side.
  • Afterward it cometh down from the top of the same mountain unto the fountain of the waters of Nephthoah, and cometh out unto the cities of mount Ephron, and inclineth unto Baalah, which is Kiriathjearim;
  • And he turned round from Baalah toward the west to mount Seir, and went on the side of mount Jearim from the north, which is Chessalon, and came down to Bethshemesh, and passed through Timnah;
  • And he went out from the side of Ekron toward the north, and went toward Shicron: and he passed over mount Baalah, and came out to Jabneel; and the last of them was the sea.
  • And the border toward the west is the great sea. This is the border of the children of Judah round about in their families.
  • And to Caleb the son of Jephunneh shall be given his portion among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the LORD Joshua, even Kiriath-arba, the father of Enak, which is Hebron.
  • And Caleb cast out from thence the three sons of Enak; Shesai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, born of Enak.
  • And he went up from thence unto the inhabitants of Debir. And the name of Debir in old time was Kiriath-sepher.
  • And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kiriath-shepher, and taketh her, to him will I give my daughter Achsah to wife.
  • And Athniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s brother, took her, and gave him Achsah his daughter to wife.
  • And it came to pass, when she was come in, that she was bidden to claim a field of her father’s; and she fell down from off her ass. And Caleb said unto her, What is the matter with thee?
  • And she said, Give me a blessing: for thou hast given me a south land, give me also springs of water. So he gave her fountains above and below.
  • This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah among their families.
  • And the cities of the tribe of the children of Judah, from one corner to another, by the border of Edom southward, were these: Kabzeel, Eder, Jagur,
  • Kina, Dimona, Ad-Ada,
  • Kedes, Hazor, Ithnan,
  • siph, telem, bealoth,
  • Hazor-hadata, Kirioth-hezron, that is Hazor,
  • Amam, Sema, Molada,
  • hazar-gadda, hesmon, beth-palet,
  • Hazar-Sual, Beer-Seba, Bisjoth-Ja,
  • Baala, Ijim, Azem,
  • EI-Tholad, Chesil, Horma,
  • Ziklag, Madmanna, Sansanna,
  • Lebaoth, Shilhim, Ain, Rimon. These are twenty and nine cities and their villages.
  • And in the causes was Esthaol, Zarea, Asna,
  • Sanoah, En-Gannim, Thapuah, Enam,
    35th Jarmuth, Adullam , Socho, Aseka,
  • Saaraim, Adithaim, Gedera, Gederothaim. These are fourteen cities and their villages.
  • Zenan, Hadasa, Migdal-Gad,
  • Dilean, Mizpe, Jakthiel,
  • Lachis, Bazekath, Eglon,
  • Chabon, Lahmam, Cithlis,
  • Gederoth, Beth-dagon, Naema, Makeda. These are sixteen cities and their villages.
  • Libna, Ether, Asan,
  • Jephthah, Asna, Nezib,
  • Kegila, Achsib, Marias. These are nine cities and their villages.
  • Ekron with her daughters and villages.
  • From Ekron even unto the sea, all that is near unto Ashdod, and their villages; 47. Ashdod with her daughters and her villages, Gaza with her daughters and her villages, unto the waters of Egypt. And the great sea is the border thereof.
  • And in the mountains was Samir, and Jattir, and Socho,
  • Danna, Kiriath-Sanna, this is Debir,
