tongue cleaveth to the roof of my mouth; and thou layest me in the dust of death.
  • For dogs have compassed me about, and the wicked have made themselves round about me; they have pierced my hands and my feet.
  • I want to count all my legs. But you look and see their lust for me.
  • They divide my garments among them, and cast lots for my vesture.
  • But thou, O Lord, be not far off; my strength, make haste to help me.
  • Deliver my soul from the sword, my lonely from the dogs!
  • Help me out of the lion’s mouth, and deliver me from the unicorns.
  • I will preach thy name unto my brethren, I will praise thee in the congregation.
  • Glorify the LORD, ye that fear him: let all the seed of Jacob glory in him, and let all the seed of Israel be afraid of him.
  • For he despised not the affliction of the poor, neither spurned it, nor hid his face from him: and when he cried unto him, he heard it.
  • Thee will I praise in the great congregation; I will pay my vows before them that fear him.
  • The miserable shall eat, and be filled: and they that inquire of the LORD shall praise him: your heart shall live for ever.

  • A psalm of David. The earth is the LORD’S, and the things that are therein; the ground, and the things that dwell therein.
  • For he hath founded it upon the seas, and prepared it by the waters.

  • He that hath innocent hands, and is pure in heart; who hath no pleasure in loose doctrine, and sweareth not falsely.

    Prayer for God’s government, grace and protection.
  • A psalm of David. I long for thee, O Lord.
  • My God, I hope in thee. Let me not be put to shame, lest mine enemies rejoice over me.
  • For no man shall be put to shame that waiteth for thee: but they shall be put to shame that are scornful.
  • O Lord, shew me thy ways, and teach me thy paths.
  • Guide me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God that helpeth me: daily I wait for thee.
  • Remember, O LORD, thy mercy, and thy lovingkindness, which was from the world.
  • Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgression: but remember me according to thy mercy, for thy lovingkindness’ sake.
  • The LORD is good and upright; therefore he teacheth sinners in the way.
  • He leadeth the wretched aright, and teacheth the miserable his way.
  • The ways of the LORD are goodness and truth to them that keep his covenant and his testimony.

    Prayer for the salvation of innocence
  • a psalm of David. O Lord, do me justice, for I am innocent. I hope in the LORD, therefore I shall not fall.
  • Try me, O LORD, and try me; purify my kidneys and my heart.
  • For thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes, and I walk in thy truth.
  • I sit not with vain men, neither have I fellowship with the wrong.
  • I hate the assembly of the wicked, and sit not with the wicked.
  • I wash my hands in innocency, and hold myself, O LORD, to thine altar,
  • When the voice of thanksgiving is heard, and when all thy wonders are preached.
  • O LORD, I love the place of thy house, and the place where thine honour dwelleth.
  • Lay not down my soul with sinners, nor my life with the bloodthirsty, 10. Which deal with evil wiles and gladly take gifts.
  • But I walk innocently. Deliver me and have mercy on me!

    Comfort and delight in God and His Word.
  • A psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation: of whom shall I fear? The LORD
    is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
  • Therefore if the wicked, mine adversaries and mine enemies, desire to devour my flesh, they shall run and fall.
  • Though an army be arrayed against me, yet my heart feareth not: though war arise against me, yet will I rely upon him.
  • One thing I desire of the Lord, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the good works of the Lord, and to visit his temple.
  • For he covereth me in his tabernacle in the evil time; he hideth me secretly in his tent, and exalteth me upon a rock;
  • And now shall I lift up my head above mine enemies that are round about me: and I will offer praise in his tabernacle, I will sing and sing praise unto the LORD.
  • O LORD, hear my voice when I call: be gracious unto me, and hear me.
  • My heart setteth before thee thy word, Ye shall seek my face. Therefore I also, O Lord, seek thy face.
  • Hide not thy face from me, and cast not thy servant out in anger: for thou art my help. Leave me not, and turn not thine hand from me, O GOD, my salvation!
  • For my father and my mother forsake me: but the LORD receiveth me.
  • O LORD, shew me thy way, and lead me in the paths of righteousness for mine enemies’
    sakes.
  • Give me not into the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses stand against me, and do me wrong without fear.
  • But I believe that I shall see the good of the LORD in the land of the living.

    The 28th Psalm
    Prayer against the wrong people
  • A psalm of David. When I cry unto thee, O LORD my refuge, be not silent unto me; lest, when thou art silent, I be like them that go down to hell.
  • Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands unto thy holy choir.
  • Show me not among the wicked, and among the workers of iniquity, which speak kindly to their neighbour, and have evil in their heart.
  • Give unto them according to their deeds, and according to their wickedness; give unto them according to the works of their hands; recompense them according to their deserts.
  • For they will not hearken unto the works of the LORD, nor unto the works of his hands: therefore will he break them down, and not build them.
  • Blessed be the LORD: for he hath heard the voice of my supplications.
  • The LORD is my strength and my shield: in him my heart hopeth, and I am saved; and my heart is glad, and I will give thanks unto him with my song.
  • The LORD is their strength; he is the strength that helpeth his anointed.
  • Help thy people, and bless thine inheritance; and feed them, and exalt them for ever.
