He caused darkness to come, and made it dark; and were not disobedient to his words.

He turned their waters into blood, and killed their fish.

Their land swarmed with toads out of the chambers of their kings.

He said, There came vermin, lice, in all their borders.

He gave them hail for rain, flames of fire in their land;

And he smote their vines and their fig trees, and brake the trees within their borders.

And he said, There came locusts and beetles without number.

And they did eat all the grass of their land, and did eat the fruit of their field.

And smote all the firstborn in Egypt, all their firstborn heirs.

And he brought them out with silver and gold; and there was not an infirm man among their tribes.

And Egypt was glad that they went out: for their fear was fallen upon them.

And he spread out a cloud for a covering, and a fire to shine by night.

And they asked, and he sent for quails; and he filled them with bread from heaven.

And he opened the rock, and waters flowed out, and streams ran in the dry wilderness.

For he remembered his holy word, spoken unto Abraham his servant.

So he brought forth his people with joy, and his elect with gladness.

And gave them the lands of the heathen, that they might take the goods of the nations.

That they might keep his statutes, and keep his judgments. Hallelujah!
The 106th Psalm (^)
God’s good deeds shown to the Israelites. Great punishment of ingratitude.

Hallelujah! Give thanks unto the LORD: for he is good; and his mercy endureth for ever.

Who can utter the great deeds of the LORD, and praise all his praiseworthy works?

Blessed are they that keep the commandment, and do right continually.

Remember me, O LORD, according to the mercy which thou hast promised thy people: show us thy help,

That we may see the welfare of thine elect, and rejoice that it is well with thy people, and glory in thine inheritance.

We have sinned with our fathers; we have transgressed, we have been ungodly.

Our fathers in Egypt would not understand thy wonders; they remembered not thy great goodness, and were disobedient at the sea, even at the Red sea.

And he helped them for his name’s sake, to shew forth his power.

And he rebuked the Red sea, and it was dry: and he led them through the deep as through a
wilderness;

And delivered them out of the hand of him that hated them, and delivered them out of the hand of the enemy.

And the waters drowned their adversaries, that there remained not one.

And they believed his words, and sang his praises.

But they soon forgot his works; they waited not for his counsel.

And they lusted in the wilderness, and tempted GOD in the desert.

And he gave them their request, and sent them enough until they were disgusted with it.

And they rebelled against Moses in the camp, and against Aaron the holy one of the LORD.

And the earth arose, and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.

And fire was kindled among their company; and the flame burned up the wicked.

And they made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the graven image; 20. And changed their glory into the likeness of an ox eating grass.

They forgot God their Saviour, who had done so great things in Egypt, 22. wonders in the land of Ham, and terrible works at the Red sea.

And he said, He would destroy them, except Moses his elect had stayed the breach, to turn away his fury, that he might not destroy them.

And they despised the dear land; they believed not his word.

And murmured in their tents; they hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD.

And he lifted up his hand against them, to smite them in the wilderness.

And cast their seed among the heathen, and scattered them abroad.

And they clave unto Baal the blood of their sons, and the blood of their daughters, which they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan; and the land was stained with blood; 29. And they provoked him to anger with their doings; and the plague was upon them.

And he came to Phinehas, and settled the matter, and the plague was stayed, 31. And it was counted unto him for righteousness for ever and ever.

And they provoked him to anger at the water of Hader; and they afflicted Moses.

For they grieved his heart, so that some words escaped from him.

Neither did they destroy the nations, as the LORD had commanded them, 35. But they mingled with the heathen, and learned the works thereof, 36. And served their idols, which were an offence unto them.

And they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils.

And they shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and of their daughters, which they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan, so that the land was stained with blood; 39. And defiled themselves with their works, and fornicated with their doings.

And the anger of the LORD was kindled against his people, and abhorred his inheritance.

And delivered them into the hand of the heathen, that they might have dominion over them which were evil to them.

And their enemies affrighted them, and were humbled under their hands.

He saved them many times: but they provoked him to anger with their pride, and became few because of their iniquity.

And he looked upon their affliction, when he heard their lamentation, 45. And remembered his covenant made with them. And repented him according to his great goodness.

And made them come to mercy before all them that had taken them captives.

Help us, O LORD our God, and bring us together from among the nations, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and praise thy praise.

Blessed be the LORD God of Israel for ever and ever: and let all the people say, Amen, alleluia.

Thanksgiving to God for salvation from many hardships.

Give thanks unto the LORD: for he is good; and his mercy endureth for ever.

Say ye, ye that are redeemed by the LORD, whom he hath redeemed out of trouble.

And whom he hath gathered together out of the countries of the rising, and of the going down, and of the north, and of the sea;

Who wandered in the wilderness by the way of no man, and found no city to dwell in, 5. hungry and thirsty, and their soul languisheth;

And they cried unto the LORD in their affliction, and he delivered them out of their fears.

And led them in a right way, that they might go to the city where they dwelt: 8. They shall give thanks unto the LORD for his lovingkindness, and for his wondrous works which he doeth for the children of men,

To satisfy the thirsty soul, and to fill the hungry soul with good things.

Who were made to sit in darkness and in vanity, bound in constraint and in iron, 11. Because they had disobeyed the commandments of God, and had profaned the law of the Most High;

Therefore their heart was troubled with misery, because they lay there, and no man helped them;

And they cried unto the LORD in their affliction, and he saved them out of their fears.

And brought them out of darkness and gloom, and brake their bands: 15. They shall give thanks unto the LORD for his lovingkindness, and for his wondrous works which he doeth for the children of men,

To break the doors of brass, and to break the bars of iron.

The fools that were afflicted for their transgression, and for their sin, 18. And they were disgusted with all meat, and were sick unto death; 19. And they cried unto the LORD in their affliction, and he saved them out of their fears; 20. And he sent his word, and healed them, and saved them, that they died not: 21. They shall give thanks unto the LORD for his lovingkindness, and for his wondrous works which he doeth for the children of men,

and offer thanksgiving, and tell his works with gladness.

They that sailed in ships upon the sea, and did their trade in great waters; 24. Who have known the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the sea, 25. When he spake, and stirred up a tempest that lifted up the waves, 26. And they went up to heaven, and entered into the bottomless pit, and their souls were troubled for fear,

And they staggered and staggered like a drunken man, and knew not what to do; 28. And they cried unto the LORD in their affliction, and he brought them out of their fears.

And quieted the tempest, that the waves were subdued,

And they were glad when it was made quiet, and he brought them to land according to their desire:

They shall give thanks unto the LORD for his goodness, and for his wondrous works which he doeth for the children of men,

And glorify him among the congregation, and praise him among the ancients.

Those whose brooks were dried up, and whose fountains were dried up, 34. That a fruitful land yielded nothing because of the wickedness of them that dwelt therein; 35. And, again, he made the dry land full of water, and in the dry land springs of water; 36. And hath set the hungry to prepare a city to dwell in,

and sow the fields, and plant the vineyards, and reap the fruit thereof year by year; 38. And he blessed them, and they multiplied almost, and gave them much cattle; 39. Those who were oppressed and weakened by the evil one who had compelled and pressed upon them,

When contempt was heaped upon the princes, and all things were in error and desolate; 41. And he protected the poor from misery,
